gradebook pro works better

...than any other grading program.

See ALL the Averages

Most grading programs display only the overall average.

Some lets you isolate the average of one term or category.

ONLY BGP shows the average of every category and term.

So, if grades are comprised of 50% Tests and 50% Daily work, you can see and report both categories as well as the overall grade.  And if you have multiple terms, you can see and report how changes in  the current term are affecting the overall grade.

ONLY BGP lets you see raw, percentage, and letter grades for individual assignments.

So, you can enter a raw grade of 17 (out of 20) and right next to it see "85%", or "B", or both!

...In Any Format

Other grading programs show averages as percents or letters.

ONLY BGP lets you show averages as percents, letters, numbers, or even fractions.

So, if a student's homework total is 105 out of 113, you can display "93%", "A-", "0.9292", "105/113", or any combination.

Other grading programs show averages up to 0, 1, or 2 decimal places.

ONLY BGP gives you up to 20 decimal places.

So, when your hand-calculator says a student's grade should be 87.654321%, you can verify that grades are being dropped, scaled, weighted, subtotaled, averaged, and rounded exactly as they should be.  (That's not so easy with programs that round everything to whole numbers.)

Open Lots of Files

Other grading programs let you open only one document at a time.

ONLY BGP lets you open as many different gradesheets as you want.

So, if you have several classes with different students and assignments, you can easily compare, copy, and paste between them.

Enter Any Grades

Some grading programs won't let you type a score with more than one decimal place, such as "8.25" out of 10.

Others will let you type it, but then round it to "8.2" or "8".

Some only let you enter numerical grades.

Others let you type letter grades, but then change your letter to a number.

ONLY BGP lets you enter any number, letter, percent, word, symbol, or arithmetic expression!

So, you can have the grade "sick" ignored. You can have "inc" treated as a zero. And if a student with an 83 gets two more points on appeal, you can type "83+2" to remind you what happened. If you deduct 10 points for late assignments, you could tell BGP that "late=10" and then enter scores like "83-late"!

Drop High or Low

Most grading programs won't drop grades at all.

One offers to drop lowest scores by permanently erasing them!

Instead, BGP always drops the current lowest score.

So, you don't need to wait for the end of the term to see the effect of dropping grades

ONLY BGP lets you drop high scores as well as low scores.

So, you can allow 3 "free" tardies or absences, by dropping the 3 highest scores in the attendance category.

ONLY BGP can drop partial assignments.

So, you avoid the inequity of dropping a small test for one student and a major test for another. For instance, suppose you gave four 25-point tests and one 100-point test. You could drop the lowest 25-points-worth! Depending on the scores, BGP would automatically drop either one small test or one-fourth of the major test.

Undo, Redo, Repeat

Some grading programs have no undo at all. Ouch!

Most only let you undo typing in a single cell. Heck, you'd probably use the backspace key instead!

ONLY BGP lets you Undo every menu command and dialog.

ONLY BGP lets you Redo any Undo!

So, you can speed through your grading, getting results instead of worrying over every keystroke. Full Undo provides more than extra safety; it provides extra convenience, too. For example, after you drop the lowest quiz and decide it doesn't help, you can simply Undo instead of resetting the calculations. Or, after you rank the students by today's test and have a look, you can Undo instead of re-sorting them.

ONLY BGP lets you Repeat the previous command.

So, you always have an easy shortcut to Do-It-Again! You can nudge the text size one point larger, then repeat, repeat, repeat until it looks exactly right. Or, after you add another decimal place to one category's averages, you can quickly select and change other categories, too.
