Not directly.  A security certificate guarantees that you have an exact copy of what was sent by the person or business who "signs" it. That provides accountability; if you encounter bugs, spyware, and viruses, you'll know who to blame.

Without a certificate, bugs, spyware, or viruses may have been added along the way by careless or evil people.  So without a security certificate, you'd be wary of downloading Megasoft Word from www.hackers.ru. even if you trusted Megasoft.

In this case, you are downloading directly from our site.  So even without a certificate, you know who to blame for any trouble. :-(
